Excerpt: This activity gives your students a chance to learn about the musicians, dancers, and musical landmarks of Harlem. Divide students into groups, and ask each group to pick the musician, dancer, or landmark that sounds most interesting to them. Next, explain that they will need to do some research to find more information about their chosen musician, dancer, or landmark. Listed below for you are a selection of possible resources to give your students to help start their research. Explain that they will need to use additional resources such as encyclopedias, periodicals (magazines, newspapers, journals, etc.), and other sources.
