Faa-Licensed Launches Set Record in 1998

Excerpt: U.S. launch service providers conducted a record 22 FAA licensed launches in 1998, an increase of 29 percent over 1997 and more than four times the number of launches conducted five years ago. As many as 25 FAA-licensed launches are scheduled for 1999, a further increase of 14 percent over 1998 activity. Through the end of 1998, there have been 106 licensed launches conducted since the first in 1989.
